James A Thomas, C.I.E.

Jim is a Master Carpenter and C.I.E. (Council-certified Indoor Environmentalist). He trained under a German Master Carpenter and an English Wheelwright and became proficient in all aspects of building restoration including but not limited to framing, trimming, cabinet building, drywall, insulation, doors and windows, fencing, decking and roofing. In 1987, after working in the restoration field as a carpenter for 15 years, Jim opened First General Services (Hamilton-Burlington) - a full service restoration company. Since opening First General Jim has acquired his certifications in Fire Restoration, Water Restoration, Odor Control and Mould Remediation including Council-certified Indoor Environmentalist, Certified Moisture Management Professional, and Certified Environmental Mold Remediator. Most recently Jim completed his training to become a Certified Clandestine Drug Lab Decontamination Specialist.

With 35 years of experience in the restoration industry Jim is well qualified to inspect and scope building environs for indoor environmental concerns, estimate cost of remediation and coordinate full remediation and restoration procedures on all types of building structures.

Jim is a proud member of IAQA (Indoor Air Quality Association), RIA (Restoration Industry Association) and IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification).

Dave Hope

Dave is a certified A.M.R.T. (Applied Microbial Remediation Technician).

Dave worked in the restoration industry for nearly twenty years gaining a deep understanding of building construction, water restoration, and mould remediation. His meticulous approach, straightforward nature, structural knowledge, experience, and education naturally lead him to Mouldoff where he has excelled since the company opened.

Dave is certified by the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration (IICRC). Certifications include Applied Microbial Remediation Technician (AMRT), Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT), Carpet Cleaning Technician (CCT), Upholstery & Fabric Cleaning Technician (UFT), Fire & Smoke Damage Restoration (SRT), Carpet Repair & Reinstallation (RRT), Journeyman Water Restorer and Journeyman Textile Cleaner.

Dave is passionately committed to providing the same level of quality and excellence in everything he does - from a small inspection to a large scale remediation project.

Dave is an active member of the community as a volunteer for a local sporting club for special needs children.

Scott Cunningham, B.Sc.

Scott is a certified M.R.T. (Mold Remediation Technician).

After graduating from Laurentian University with a Bachelor of Science degree, Scott worked as a technician at First General Services discovering the importance of team work and quality.

Scott became a crew leader for a landscaping company and then went on to become a production manager at a manufacturing plant where he spent eight years developing his commerce skills in quality control, economics, customer service, group organization, and evaluation.

Since starting with Mouldoff, Scott has acquired certification with the Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA) as a Mold Remediation Technician (MRT), and with the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration (IICRC) including Water Restoration Technician (WRT), Applied Structural Drying (ASD), Commercial Drying Specialist (CDS), Odor Control Technician (OCT), and Fire and Smoke Technician (FST).

Scott became President of Mouldoff in 2009. His dedication to quality and friendly professionalism assures that Mouldoff will always have the consumer’s concern at mind.

Scott is a proud member of the Lions Club and coaches minor hockey, minor baseball, and women’s fastball.

Shawn Thomas

Shawn is a certified M.W.R. (Master Water Restorer) and A.M.R.T. (Applied Microbial Remediation Technician). From a young age Shawn has worked in the building industry learning all the different aspects of building construction, fire and water restoration, and mould remediation.

After high school, Shawn worked in many well known restaurants as a kitchen manager learning how to manage a team in a fast paced environment.

Returning to his main passion, Shawn worked at First General Services as a technician learning firsthand the importance of organization and details. For many years he worked as a project manager on mould remediation and water damage projects. In 2009 he acquired Mouldoff as the Vice President.

Shawn holds several certifications through IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification):
