James A Thomas, C.I.E.
Jim is a Master Carpenter and C.I.E. (Certified Indoor Environmentalist). He trained under a German Master Carpenter and an English Wheelwright and became proficient in all aspects of building restoration including but not limited to framing, trimming, cabinet building, drywall, insulation, doors and windows, fencing, decking and roofing. In 1987, after working in the restoration field as a carpenter for 15 years, Jim opened First General Services (Hamilton-Burlington) - a full service restoration company. Since opening First General Jim has acquired his certifications in Fire Restoration, Water Restoration, Odor Control and Mould Remediation including Certified Indoor Environmentalist, Certified Moisture Management Professional, and Certified Environmental Mold Remediator. Most recently Jim completed his training to become a Certified Clandestine Drug Lab Decontamination Specialist.
With 35 years of experience in the restoration industry Jim is well qualified to inspect and scope building environs for indoor environmental concerns, estimate cost of remediation and coordinate full remediation and restoration procedures on all types of building structures.
Jim is a proud member of IAQA (Indoor Air Quality Association), RIA (Restoration Industry Association) and IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification).
Shawn Thomas
Shawn has spent the past seven years as an estimator and Project Manager on mould remediation and water damage projects. And, with 17 years experience in the restoration industry, he has learned many different aspects of the restoration and remediation business. He began in the field learning first-hand what customers need most.
Shawn began certification through IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification) and now holds seven certifications:
AMRT: Applied Microbial Remediation Technician
WRT: Water Restoration Technician
ASD: Applied Structural Drying Technician
OCT: Odour Control Technician
FST : Fire and Smoke Technician
HST: Health and Safety Technician
CCT: Carpet Cleaning Technician.
Shawn continues to upgrade his knowledge and education of current practices, standards, and techniques in the industry. By the end of 2008 he will also be a Master Water Restorer.
Scott Cunningham, B.Sc.
Mouldoff is proud to welcome Scott Cunningham to the remediation team.
After graduating from Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario with a B.Sc. degree in 1999, he worked as a technician at First General Services where he gained frontline experience in the restoration business.
In November, 2007, Scott joined Mouldoff after seven years at Abba Pump Parts and Service, a Burlington manufacturing plant where he was a production coordinator. Now, he organizes and schedules labour, organizes and schedules tradesmen, estimates jobs and continues to advance his management skills.
Upon joining Mouldoff, he immediately began studying at the Center for Disaster Recovery in Barrie, Ontario for the certifications that would make him a trained professional in the mould remediation and restoration field.
Now, along with field experience, his certifications include the following:
WRT: Water Restoration Technician
ASD: Applies Structural Drying
OCT: Odour Control Technician
FST: Fire and Smoke Technician
Soon, he will be taking his AMRT - Applied Microbial Remediation Technician certification.
Scott is looking forward to a rewarding career in a business that helps restore indoor living spaces to safe, clean environments.
He is active in the community, coaching minor hockey and baseball, and a member of a local service club.
